Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Architect and own the backbone of Point One’s global corrections network, a real-time, millisecond-precision system that serves autonomous vehicles, robotics, and transportation fleets worldwide. You will design services that ingest, process, and distribute GNSS corrections at planetary scale, ensuring 99.99 % uptime and sub-centimeter accuracy.
- • Write production-grade Go and Java code that powers microservices handling millions of positioning messages per second. Your modules will span ingestion pipelines, stateful stream processing, and low-latency gRPC APIs consumed by edge devices in the field.
- • Produce crystal-clear architectural decision records (ADRs), sequence diagrams, and RFCs that enable every engineer—from intern to principal—to understand, critique, and extend the system. Your documentation will become the canonical reference for how Point One keeps the world precisely located.
- • Drive performance and reliability initiatives: tune Kafka clusters for zero-data-loss guarantees, optimize JVM garbage-collection pauses under 5 ms, and craft chaos-engineering experiments that harden services against regional outages and satellite anomalies.
- • Partner with hardware, embedded, and product teams to translate GNSS physics and customer SLAs into scalable backend requirements. You will sit at the intersection of signal processing, distributed systems, and user experience, ensuring that every algorithmic improvement reaches users in hours, not weeks.
- • Own end-to-end delivery of new capabilities—from whiteboard sketches to Terraform modules, CI/CD pipelines, and production dashboards. You will champion SLOs, error budgets, and automated rollbacks so that releases feel routine, not risky.
- • Mentor senior and mid-level engineers through design reviews, pair programming, and lightning tech talks. Your feedback will level-up the entire backend org and propagate best practices across time zones.
- • Contribute to the technical roadmap, balancing cutting-edge research (ionospheric modeling, PPP-RTK fusion) with pragmatic engineering bets that deliver customer value today. You will quantify trade-offs in latency, cost, and accuracy, presenting options to leadership with clear risk-reward narratives.
- • Champion a culture of extreme speed and zero-ego collaboration. Whether debugging a satellite clock drift at 2 a.m. or white-boarding a new service mesh, you default to action, assume best intent, and celebrate collective wins.
- • Stay on the forefront of cloud-native tech—evaluate Kubernetes operators, eBPF observability, and WebAssembly sandboxing—then selectively adopt tools that compound team velocity without adding cognitive load.
Skills & Technologies
About Point One Navigation, Inc.
Point One Navigation designs centimeter-accurate GNSS and sensor-fusion positioning systems for autonomous vehicles, robotics, logistics and mapping. Its cloud-based corrections network, Polaris, delivers real-time RTK corrections across North America and Europe via dense reference station infrastructure. The company’s sensor fusion engine combines GNSS, IMU, wheel odometry and perception data to deliver robust localization in urban canyons and other degraded signal environments. APIs and embedded modules allow manufacturers to integrate precise positioning into ADAS, delivery robots, drones, precision agriculture equipment and surveying tools with minimal engineering effort.
