- • Design, develop, and maintain embedded software applications for autonomous aerial systems including V-BAT and X-BAT aircraft, ensuring real-time performance, reliability, and safety in mission-critical environments.
- • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware engineers, systems architects, and mission planners to integrate embedded software with sensor suites, communication modules, and flight control systems.
- • Architect and implement low-level firmware and drivers for microcontrollers and embedded processors, optimizing for power efficiency, memory constraints, and deterministic timing requirements.
- • Lead the development of software for Hivemind Enterprise and Hivemind Vision platforms, enabling autonomous decision-making, object detection, and situational awareness in dynamic operational environments.
- • Apply rigorous software engineering practices including code reviews, unit testing, integration testing, and continuous integration pipelines to ensure robustness and compliance with defense-grade standards.
- • Debug and resolve complex system-level issues spanning hardware-software interfaces, real-time operating systems (RTOS), and communication protocols such as CAN, UART, and Ethernet.
- • Contribute to the evolution of software architecture by evaluating emerging technologies, proposing scalable solutions, and mentoring junior engineers in embedded systems best practices.
- • Document software design decisions, API specifications, and system behavior in accordance with military and aerospace documentation standards.
- • Participate in system-level requirements analysis and translate operational needs from defense stakeholders into technical specifications for embedded software components.
- • Ensure software compliance with relevant security, certification, and regulatory frameworks applicable to defense and aerospace systems.
- • Work closely with field deployment teams to support testing, validation, and field updates of embedded systems in diverse global environments including urban, maritime, and austere terrains.
- • Stay current with advancements in embedded computing, AI inference at the edge, and autonomous system software to enhance product capabilities and maintain technological leadership.
- • Represent the embedded software team in technical reviews, design audits, and customer-facing demonstrations for defense and government partners.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- • 8+ years of professional experience in embedded software development for real-time systems
- • Proven expertise in C/C++ for resource-constrained embedded platforms
- • Hands-on experience with RTOS (e.g., FreeRTOS, VxWorks, QNX) and bare-metal programming
- • Experience developing firmware for ARM Cortex-M/R processors or similar embedded architectures
- • Demonstrated track record of delivering production-grade embedded software for safety-critical or defense applications
