- • Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-reliability systems that power Shield AI’s autonomous aircraft platforms, including V-BAT and X-BAT, ensuring mission-critical performance in operational environments.
- • Lead the architecture and implementation of embedded systems software for real-time flight control, sensor fusion, and autonomous decision-making systems used in defense and civilian protection applications.
- • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware engineers, firmware developers, and mission systems specialists to integrate software with custom avionics, sensors, and communication modules.
- • Optimize system performance under constrained computational and power budgets, ensuring robust operation in extreme environmental conditions such as high altitude, electromagnetic interference, and GPS-denied zones.
- • Implement and enforce rigorous software development lifecycle practices including code reviews, automated testing, continuous integration, and secure coding standards aligned with defense industry requirements.
- • Contribute to the development and maintenance of Hivemind Enterprise and Hivemind Vision platforms, enhancing edge AI capabilities for real-time object detection, terrain mapping, and situational awareness.
- • Document system architectures, interfaces, and operational protocols to support field deployment, maintenance, and regulatory compliance for military and government clients.
- • Mentor junior engineers and lead technical initiatives to elevate team capabilities in systems engineering, real-time operating systems, and embedded C/C++ development.
- • Participate in system-level troubleshooting and field support for deployed platforms, responding to operational feedback to drive iterative improvements in system reliability and functionality.
- • Work closely with product and program management to translate mission requirements into technical specifications and deliverables for defense contracts and international partnerships.
- • Ensure all systems adhere to applicable cybersecurity standards and export control regulations governing defense technology development and deployment.
- • Stay current with emerging technologies in autonomous systems, AI at the edge, and secure embedded computing to inform long-term platform evolution and innovation.
🎯 Requirements
- • 8+ years of experience in systems engineering, embedded software, or real-time systems development
- • Proven expertise in C/C++ for resource-constrained embedded platforms
- • Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) such as FreeRTOS, VxWorks, or QNX
- • Demonstrated track record of delivering mission-critical systems for aerospace, defense, or robotics applications
- • Strong understanding of hardware-software integration, including peripheral drivers, DMA, interrupts, and memory mapping
- • Experience with version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing frameworks for embedded systems
