📋 Description

• As a Staff FPGA Engineer at Olix USA Inc., you will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between ASIC design and real-world validation by leading the architecture and implementation of FPGA-based prototyping and emulation systems for the company’s groundbreaking Optical Tensor Processing Unit (OTPU). Your work will directly enable early hardware–software co-development, functional verification, and system-level debugging before silicon tape-out, accelerating the development of a next-generation AI infrastructure solution that addresses critical bottlenecks in chip and power station production.
• You will own the end-to-end FPGA prototyping lifecycle for the OTPU ASIC, from RTL bring-up through pre-silicon software validation, ensuring the prototype platform is accurate, maintainable, and trusted by cross-functional teams. This includes leading RTL partitioning, synthesis, and mapping onto Cadence Protium or equivalent multi-FPGA platforms, designing memory SHIMs to replicate ASIC memory macros, establishing scalable build flows, managing incremental updates aligned with evolving RTL, and enabling early driver and OS bring-up through close collaboration with software and firmware teams.
• You will be embedded within the ASIC design team at Olix USA Inc., a pioneering company building the Optical Tensor Processing Unit (OTPU) to overcome the limitations of legacy hardware architectures in the face of explosive AI-driven demand. Working alongside ASIC, hardware, software, verification, and FPGA engineering teams in Austin and London, you will provide technical leadership without formal authority, mentoring engineers and driving alignment across the global FPGA programme to ensure prototype fidelity and usability.
• In this role, you will deepen your expertise in high-stakes pre-silicon validation, mastering advanced multi-FPGA partitioning, emulation acceleration, and FPGA-based memory SHIM design while influencing the technical direction of a transformative AI hardware project. You will gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge tools like Cadence Protium, Palladium, and ZeBu, and strengthen your leadership in system-level debugging, build automation, and cross-functional collaboration—positioning you at the forefront of next-generation chip development.

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years of FPGA design experience with significant focus on ASIC prototyping, emulation, or pre-silicon validation
• Hands-on experience with Cadence Protium, Synopsys HAPS, Palladium, ZeBu, or equivalent multi-FPGA prototyping and emulation platforms
• Expert-level proficiency in Verilog, strong Python and scripting skills, and experience with Xilinx/AMD UltraScale+ or Versal FPGA architectures
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
