Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • As a Staff IT Engineer at Ashby Inc., you will be a pivotal technical leader in a growing IT team, responsible for delivering world-class support and automation that enables a productive, secure, and delightful technology experience for all employees.
- • Day to day, you will own and resolve end-user issues from ingestion to resolution, design and implement automation across device and identity management systems, contribute to building a scalable internal backend using TypeScript, APIs, and pub/sub queues, and partner cross-functionally to improve user lifecycle processes like onboarding and offboarding.
- • Ashby is a fast-growing startup that has scaled from ~250 to 320 employees in six months, with an IT team currently of one (the hiring manager) looking to expand. The company values technology as an enabling force and emphasizes empathy, innovation, and technical excellence in equal measure.
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in enterprise IT systems, lead automation initiatives that reduce manual toil, influence the technical direction of a growing team, and develop your ability to blend technical problem-solving with emotional intelligence and user-centered support.
🎯 Requirements
- • Deep experience with IT systems including device management (e.g., Kandji, Crowdstrike) and identity management (e.g., Okta, Google Workspace), with demonstrated ability to architect and automate integrations between them.
- • Proven experience building automations using APIs, MCP servers, and glue-code to connect disparate internal systems, with comfort working in TypeScript-based backend services, pub/sub queues, and event-driven architectures.
- • Strong belief that end-user support is as critical as automation engineering, with a track record of delivering empathetic, human-centered technical solutions that address both technical and emotional user needs.
- • Ambition to challenge norms and build scalable, flexible systems, combined with humility to listen, learn, and collaborate effectively in a small, expert team environment.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive salary and equity package with a 10-year exercise window for stock options, allowing financial flexibility upon departure.
- • Twelve weeks of fully paid family leave in the US, with plans to expand globally, and top-notch health insurance for US-based employees and dependents, with all premiums covered by the company.
- • Generous budget for equipment, software, and office furniture, plus a $100/month education stipend (with manager approval for higher-cost items like conferences).
