Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • As a Staff Mobile Engineer at Finary SAS, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the mobile experience for over 850,000 users who rely on the platform to track investments, manage budgets, and take control of their financial futures. This is not just about writing code—it’s about defining the technical direction of Finary’s mobile platform in a high-autonomy, AI-native environment where your architectural decisions will directly impact product velocity, reliability, and user satisfaction.
- • You will build and ship delightful, end-to-end features on Finary’s iOS and Android apps using React Native and Expo, collaborating closely with product, design, and backend teams to translate user needs into polished, performant mobile experiences. Your work will span feature development, API contract definition, performance optimization, and offline handling—ensuring the app remains fast, reliable, and intuitive across devices and network conditions.
- • You will contribute to mobile architecture decisions, helping evolve the platform’s structure to support long-term scalability and maintainability. This includes setting standards for navigation, state management, and platform-specific integrations, while mentoring peers and raising the bar for developer experience through improved tooling, testing, and CI/CD practices.
- • You will partner with backend engineers (working in Rust, Ruby, and Python) to design efficient, mobile-optimized data flows and API contracts, ensuring seamless integration between frontend and backend systems. This requires a deep understanding of computer science fundamentals and the ability to reason about trade-offs in latency, data consistency, and resource usage.
- • You will leverage AI tools like Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex to multiply your productivity—not as a replacement for judgment, but as an amplifier of your architectural insight, taste, and problem-solving ability. Finary believes the best engineers today are those who focus on high-value work: system design, quality, and innovation—not manual typing.
- • You will champion mobile performance, reliability, and developer experience by identifying bottlenecks, implementing monitoring and observability (via Datadog and Sentry), and driving improvements in app startup time, frame rates, and crash-free sessions—directly impacting user retention and satisfaction.
- • You will join a small, elite team of ~3 mobile engineers within a broader engineering organization of ~30, organized into fluid, mission-driven squads (Track, Investment, Crypto, Finary One) and a platform team. This structure gives you the stability of a dedicated squad while enabling cross-functional mobility as priorities evolve—offering high impact without siloed specialization.
- • You will grow into a technical leader who shapes company direction—not just by shipping features, but by influencing mobile strategy, mentoring peers, and establishing best practices that elevate the entire engineering bar. Your ownership mindset will drive outcomes without waiting for permission, aligning with Finary’s culture of trust, speed, and quality over process.
🎯 Requirements
- • Strong expertise in React Native with Expo (mandatory); native iOS (Swift) or Android (Kotlin) experience is a strong plus.
- • Solid understanding of backend systems and computer science fundamentals to collaborate effectively with backend engineers on API contracts and system design.
- • Deep understanding of mobile-specific challenges: performance optimization, offline handling, navigation patterns, platform differences, and app store processes.
- • Proven ability to use AI tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex) to multiply productivity while maintaining high code quality and architectural integrity.
- • Staff-level mindset: you shape platform architecture, mentor peers, drive technical direction, and exhibit radical ownership—moving fast without waiting for permission.
- • Fluency in English (written and spoken) to collaborate effectively in an English-speaking engineering team.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Hybrid work model with teammates across France and Europe, including 6 in-person weeks per year in Paris (travel and accommodation fully covered).
- • Access to modern stack and best-in-class AI tooling (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex) provided by the company to amplify your impact.
- • High-performing environment surrounded by A-players who challenge and elevate your growth through technical excellence and peer mentorship.
- • Meaningful impact: build products that empower 850,000+ users to take control of their financial future through investing, budgeting, and education.
- • Competitive compensation ranging from Level 4 (€80–110K) to Level 5 (€100–130K), with flexibility to go higher for outstanding profiles.
- • Opportunities to work across fluid squads (Track, Investment, Crypto, Finary One) and platform teams, enabling broad exposure and continuous learning without over-specialization.
