  • • As a Staff/Principal Engagement Manager at Skylight, you will drive the success of client work by leading cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact, 0–1 products in the child welfare space, translating ambiguity into actionable plans while ensuring alignment with user needs, policy constraints, and mission-driven outcomes.
  • • Day to day, you will lead product vision and roadmap development with stakeholders, manage risks and blockers, facilitate executive decision-making, oversee contract execution and financials, foster team ownership and collaboration, and ensure delivery stays on track with timelines, scope, and quality while incorporating user feedback and real-world insights.
  • • Skylight is a digital consultancy at the forefront of a civic movement to reinvent how government serves families, patients, and underserved communities through design and technology, operating as a team of public interest technologists committed to driving meaningful change in public services.
  • • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in product management, stakeholder alignment, risk mitigation, and delivery excellence in high-stakes, regulated environments, while contributing to impactful work that improves outcomes for children and families and growing your leadership in mission-driven technology consulting.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Experience leading teams in 0–1 product development from concept through initial launch for complex projects or programs, preferably in product management, delivery, or consulting roles
  • • Demonstrated ability to deliver under tight timelines while maintaining quality and team health in high-ambiguity, high-stakes environments
  • • Strong judgment and decision-making skills, with experience facilitating executive-level decisions and navigating stakeholder conflict in complex, multi-layered settings
  • • Experience managing subcontractors or partner organizations within delivery teams and handling financial acumen including budgets, burn rates, and forecasting
  • • Ability to translate ambiguous, evolving requirements into clear plans and actionable work, and to work effectively at the intersection of policy, operations, and technology
  • • Comfort working with technical systems, data flows, and legacy environments to collaborate with engineering and data teams
  • • Experience working in or with government or highly regulated environments, or the ability to quickly navigate complex regulatory contexts
  • • Commitment to agile and iterative delivery, including continuous improvement, retrospectives, and applying learnings to enhance team performance
  • • Willingness to travel for work from time to time and to work in-person 1–5 days per week at 330 C Street SW, Washington DC
  • • Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship, eligibility for public trust or security clearance, and successful completion of a company background check
