📋 Description

• • Own the full design lifecycle for the core loan-origination workflows that move millions of dollars every day. You will go from ambiguous problem statements in a highly regulated space to pixel-perfect, accessible UI that loan officers trust at 2 a.m. when a borrower is waiting.
• • Partner shoulder-to-shoulder with Product and Engineering to frame the real “job to be done,” then ruthlessly scope to the simplest solution that still delights. Expect daily white-boarding, rapid Figma iterations, and joint QA sessions where you defend every micro-interaction.
• • Translate dense federal rules, investor overlays, and lender checklists into calm, step-by-step flows. You will map 200+ edge cases, surface smart defaults, and design guardrails so users never have to guess what happens next.
• • Shape how humans and AI collaborate. Decide when the system should auto-fill a form, when it should surface a confidence score, and how it explains its reasoning in plain English. Your patterns will become the standard for every future AI feature.
• • Evolve Loancrate’s nascent design system into a scalable language that lets squads ship twice as fast without breaking cohesion. You will audit existing components, codify new ones, and write usage guidelines that engineers actually read.
• • Craft every word that appears in the product—labels, empty states, error messages, tooltips—so the tone is clear, trustworthy, and regulatory-compliant. You will maintain a living copy library and teach others how to write like a human, not a lawyer.
• • Run lightweight, continuous research. Schedule 30-minute Zooms with underwriters, shadow a closing agent for an afternoon, or drop an in-product survey. Distill findings into one-page readouts that change the roadmap the same week.
• • Work directly with enterprise clients during onboarding sprints, turning their bespoke requirements into reusable patterns. Your designs will influence how the entire industry digitizes lending over the next decade.
• • Define success metrics for every feature—time-on-task, task-completion rate, support tickets—and instrument them in Amplitude or FullStory. You will present results in monthly “Show & Tell” sessions that celebrate wins and openly dissect misses.
• • Raise the quality bar across the company. Run design critiques, pair with junior designers, and champion accessibility, performance, and inclusive design in every PRD. Your feedback will be direct, kind, and always tied to user outcomes.
• • Within your first 30 days you will ship at least one improvement that measurably reduces loan-processing time, contribute a documented component to the design system, and establish a weekly research cadence that product managers start requesting.
• • Work remotely from anywhere in the U.S., with quarterly on-sites in Los Angeles for white-board marathons and Korean BBQ. We protect four-hour maker blocks, default to Loom updates, and cancel any meeting without an agenda.
