- • As a Staff Software Engineer, ML Search at Reddit, you will build backend and pipeline systems that turn machine learning models into real search experiences for over 110 million daily users, directly impacting how people discover content across the platform’s vast network of communities.
- • You will own data flows, ranking and retrieval services, and low-latency model-serving APIs, integrating models into production through robust interfaces and DAGs to enable fast iteration and power discovery across Reddit’s ecosystem.
- • The Search & Recommendation Relevance team focuses on delivering the most relevant results from Reddit’s enormous corpus of human conversation, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and low latency in systems that serve diverse user intents—from hiking trails to product reviews.
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in large-scale search infrastructure, lead cross-functional initiatives, and shape the foundation for how machine learning models are deployed and served at scale, enabling better modeling through improved systems, features, and deployment pathways.
🎯 Requirements
- • 8+ years of industry experience with a focus on search and recommendation systems
- • 6+ years of experience designing, building, and iterating large-scale search relevance and infrastructure systems, handling end-to-end system development
- • Proficient in object-oriented programming (Python, Golang) and experienced in API design and integration with GraphQL, REST, HTTP, Thrift, or gRPC
- • Experience developing applications using large-scale data stacks such as Kubeflow, Airflow, BigQuery, Kafka, Kubernetes, and Redis
- • Knowledge and hands-on experience with search systems including Lucene, Solr, ElasticSearch, or OpenSearch
- • Proven track record of delivering large, complex systems with significant business impact and strong cross-functional collaboration skills
