- • Strategic Account Executive, District at Cambium Learning Group, Inc. is a high-impact, remote-first sales role focused on driving new business and expansion within the largest K-12 school districts in the U.S. Northeast territory. This role is critical to advancing Lexia’s mission of improving literacy outcomes by serving as the primary executive liaison to district leadership, aligning solutions with instructional goals, funding priorities, and systemic change initiatives.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include managing consultative sales engagements with senior education leaders such as superintendents and chief academic officers, developing tailored proposals and multi-year implementation plans, and positioning Lexia’s literacy solutions against competitors by highlighting research-based outcomes and implementation success stories. The role requires analyzing territory data, education policy, funding cycles (including ESSER and Title I), and market conditions to identify strategic opportunities and penetrate new buying centers within existing accounts.
- • The incumbent will generate, grow, and maintain a robust pipeline of high-value greenfield opportunities across large and complex education systems, proactively outreach to high-potential accounts, and accurately forecast new business and expansion revenue using historical data and territory insights. All sales activities, opportunities, and outcomes must be tracked in Salesforce and other productivity tools, with regular sharing of market intelligence and competitive insights with sales leadership.
- • As a thought leader and trusted advisor, the Account Executive will represent Lexia at national and regional education conferences, trade shows, and events to build brand awareness and generate strategic leads. They will engage in multi-stakeholder sales engagements involving high-dollar, multi-year agreements, deliver thought leadership sessions, and collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment with district priorities and funding timelines.
- • The role demands up to 80% travel, including overnight stays, balanced with virtual engagement using video conferencing and CRM tools to maintain consistent stakeholder interaction. Success is measured by the ability to uncover client needs, propose tailored solutions, close new business, manage a growing pipeline, and meet ongoing revenue targets in complex, politically nuanced district environments.
- • About the team or company: Cambium Learning Group, Inc. operates as a Remote First organization, emphasizing flexibility, trust, and results-driven culture. Employees are supported with home office reimbursement and expected to maintain reliable broadband (minimum 10 Mbps download, 5 Mbps upload) and active video participation in meetings. The company is committed to equity and inclusion, providing reasonable accommodations and prohibiting unauthorized AI use during interviews to ensure fairness.
- • What the person can learn or achieve: This role offers the opportunity to deepen expertise in K-12 education sales, educational funding models, and the Science of Reading while influencing systemic literacy change at the district level. The incumbent will develop advanced consultative selling, strategic planning, and executive relationship-building skills, gaining visibility as a trusted advisor in one of the nation’s most impactful education technology companies.
🎯 Requirements
- • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; 10+ years of proven success in business development, sales, and account management, with preferred experience selling into large, complex Pre-K to 12 school districts.
- • Deep understanding of education funding models (ESSER, Title I, state grants), procurement processes, and the ability to navigate multi-stakeholder environments and political landscapes within K-12 education systems.
- • Exceptional communication, presentation, and strategic planning skills, including forecasting, pipeline management, and the ability to influence executive-level decision makers; proficiency in Salesforce, MS Office, Google Suites, and video conferencing tools required.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Remote First work environment with flexibility and trust, allowing employees to balance work and life while being measured by results.
