📋 Description

  • Partner with leaders and managers across the company to address key personnel challenges, including hiring surges, leave of absence decisions, and exit conversations, providing strategic guidance grounded in operational reality.
  • Conduct quarterly departmental audits that deeply analyze team dynamics, workflows, and pain points, using insights to co-create strategic improvements with department leaders to enhance organizational effectiveness.
  • Own and execute high-impact, organization-wide initiatives such as redesigning onboarding and offboarding processes, implementing new HR systems, or automating manual workflows that improve team efficiency.
  • Identify systemic inefficiencies across the company by observing what’s not working, connecting disparate issues, and taking ownership to design and implement solutions without waiting for formal directives.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to managers on complex people-related dilemmas, offering data-informed, empathetic, and pragmatic solutions that align with company values and growth stage.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to embed people-centric thinking into operational decision-making, ensuring that people strategies directly support business outcomes in a rapidly scaling environment.
  • Drive continuous improvement in how the People function operates by challenging traditional HR norms, rejecting policy-heavy approaches, and focusing exclusively on solving the most pressing problems facing teams.
  • Act as a problem-chaser rather than a policy-enforcer, prioritizing actionable interventions over compliance frameworks and measuring success by impact, not process adherence.
  • Adapt daily to shifting priorities in a high-growth startup environment, remaining flexible and proactive in addressing emerging needs across departments from clinical staffing to engineering to customer support.
  • Proactively seek feedback from peers and managers to refine approaches, iterate quickly, and ensure initiatives deliver measurable improvements in team experience and operational velocity.
  • Maintain strong situational awareness to recognize when a problem requires escalation, external expertise, or deeper analysis to avoid decisions with serious organizational consequences.
  • Embrace ambiguity and discomfort as part of the role, taking on tasks outside traditional HR boundaries — whether it’s troubleshooting a payroll bottleneck, redesigning a manager toolkit, or supporting a team through restructuring.
  • Contribute to building a next-generation People function that is agile, entrepreneurial, and deeply embedded in business operations — not defined by bureaucracy, but by impact and speed.
  • Represent the People team as a strategic partner, not an administrative function, consistently demonstrating ability to think at the organizational level while executing with precision on tactical initiatives.
  • Leverage direct observation and qualitative insights to inform decisions, complementing data with human context to create solutions that are both scalable and deeply resonant with team needs.
  • Maintain a solutions-oriented mindset focused on outcomes: if something isn’t working, you don’t wait for permission — you diagnose, propose, and drive change.

🎯 Requirements

  • Ability to thrive in a high-growth, rapidly changing startup environment with minimal structure and evolving priorities
  • Proven experience identifying, diagnosing, and solving complex organizational or people-related problems without relying on traditional HR frameworks
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence leaders and managers across departments without formal authority
  • High level of self-awareness and judgment to recognize limits, escalate appropriately, and avoid decisions with serious operational or cultural consequences
  • Demonstrated ability to own end-to-end initiatives from conception to execution, including system implementations and process redesigns
  • Comfort working remotely across Pacific and Mountain time zones with full availability during Pacific business hours
