- • As a Strategy & Ops Engineer at HappyRobot AI Inc., you will play a pivotal role in transforming how the company operates by eliminating manual, repetitive work through engineering-driven solutions. This role is critical to scaling operations efficiently in a high-growth AI startup where leverage and automation directly impact speed, cost, and reliability across global enterprise deployments.
- • You will identify pain points in operational workflows across finance, sales, procurement, legal, and customer support, then design and build internal tools, automations, and lightweight services to replace ad hoc processes with scalable, production-quality systems. Your work will reduce dependency on administrative headcount while improving data accuracy, system observability, and go-to-market execution.
- • You will join a world-class team of engineers and operators at HappyRobot, a Y Combinator-backed (S23) AI infrastructure company funded by a16z and Base10 with over $60M raised. The company specializes in enterprise AI workforces that autonomously handle voice, email, and system integrations, starting in logistics and expanding to power real-economy operations worldwide.
- • In this role, you will develop deep ownership of end-to-end operational systems, from ambiguous problem identification through deployment, monitoring, and iteration. You will sharpen your ability to blend technical excellence with business impact, learning how to engineer leverage in fast-moving environments while contributing to a culture of extreme ownership, craftsmanship, and first-principles thinking.

- • Strong software engineering fundamentals with proven ability to ship real-world systems
- • Experience building automations or internal tools using Python, SQL, APIs, or scripting languages
- • Ability to reason about system design, edge cases, failure modes, and long-term maintainability
- • Strong business intuition — understanding how operational systems affect cost, speed, and scale
- • Extreme ownership: proactive problem identification, solution design, and execution without direction
- • High agency, urgency, and comfort operating in ambiguous, fast-changing environments
- • Clear written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
