- • World Insurance Associates (WIA) is seeking enthusiastic and driven students to join our Summer 2026 Accounting Internship Program in Iselin, New Jersey. This 10-week immersive experience is meticulously designed to cultivate a pipeline of future talent, offering a comprehensive introduction to the dynamic world of insurance and professional services. As one of the fastest-growing insurance brokers in the U.S., WIA provides a unique environment where you can hone your skills within a rapidly expanding organization, gaining invaluable exposure to diverse insurance lines, surety and bonding, employee benefits, financial services, and human capital management solutions.
- • The core objective of the WORLD Internship Program is to provide participants with a deep understanding of the insurance industry's intricacies and its various distribution models. You will be an integral part of our Accounting team, contributing to critical functions and gaining hands-on experience across the entire insurance brokerage cycle. This includes learning about identifying and properly marketing risks, developing effective service timelines, efficiently implementing service requests, and navigating the complexities of the renewal process.
- • Your primary responsibilities will span various crucial areas within accounting and finance. You will have the opportunity to assist with Accounts Payable (AP) projects, including managing the escheatment process, accurately entering data, and uploading supporting documentation. A significant part of your role will involve data cleanup for direct bill operations and meticulously comparing Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) data against our internal records post-conversion, ensuring data integrity and accuracy. You will also be involved in preparing journal entries for the technical accounting team, contributing to the accuracy of our financial reporting.
- • Collaboration with the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team will be a key component of your internship. You will gain insights into budget overviews and assist with budget setup processes, understanding the strategic financial planning that drives our business. Furthermore, you will conduct high-level reviews and analyze multiple roll-forward schedules, such as prepaid expenses and accrued expenses, developing your analytical and critical thinking skills. Compiling bank statements and reaching out to vendors to facilitate the transition to ACH payments will also be part of your duties, enhancing your understanding of treasury operations and vendor management.
- • To further enrich your learning experience, you will review inventory data and assist in conducting physical audit counts, providing practical experience in asset management and internal controls. Throughout the program, you will also be tasked with ad-hoc projects and assignments that allow you to apply your developing skills to real-world business challenges, demonstrating your adaptability and problem-solving capabilities.
- • Beyond the day-to-day accounting tasks, the program is structured to offer a holistic developmental experience. You will participate in a variety of engaging programs and events designed to foster professional growth and networking. This includes an official Intern Orientation at our Iselin, New Jersey headquarters, providing a warm welcome and essential program overview. You will benefit from insightful Speaker Presentations, Town Halls, and Monthly Webinars led by our Executive Leadership, offering direct access to industry insights and strategic perspectives.
- • Learning directly from our CEO and COO about World Insurance Associates' overarching business strategy, operational model, and key organizational priorities will provide invaluable high-level business acumen. You will also engage with a self-paced online program provided by the Council for Insurance Agents and Brokers, deepening your understanding of the insurance landscape. The program emphasizes work-life balance and team building through fun networking, volunteer, and social events, allowing you to build lasting professional relationships. Additionally, you will participate in targeted developmental workshops designed to enhance your soft skills and professional competencies, preparing you for a successful career launch.
- • This internship is more than just a summer job; it's a launchpad for your career. You will gain practical, hands-on experience in a fast-paced, supportive environment, working alongside seasoned professionals who are invested in your development. By the end of the program, you will have a robust understanding of accounting principles within the insurance industry, enhanced analytical and communication skills, and a clear vision for your future career path. We are committed to providing a challenging yet rewarding internship experience that prepares you for success after graduation.
