- • Provide clinical leadership for pathology services across Bon Secours Mercy Health laboratories to ensure standardized, high-quality patient outcomes and consistent KPIs.
- • Develop and execute system-wide strategies for pathology services aligned with laboratory and organizational priorities.
- • Oversee alignment of market pathology groups with ministry goals to ensure efficiency, consistency, and service excellence.
- • Standardize pathology productivity and performance metrics across all markets within the ministry.
- • Guide market medical directors in developing quality assurance programs including proficiency testing, peer review, and internal audits.
- • Stay current on evolving best practices, technologies, and regulatory requirements in pathology and laboratory medicine.
- • Foster transparency and collaboration among pathology groups across markets by promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
- • Chair enterprise-wide committees including the Clinical & Scientific Board, Lab Regulatory Oversight Committee, Lab Stewardship Committee, and Patient Blood Management Committee.
- • Ensure all site medical directors comply with federal, state, and local regulations and maintain good standing with market medical operations.
- • Provide performance feedback to executive and market leadership regarding site medical directors.
- • Participate in strategic evaluations for test internalization (buy vs. sell analysis) and assessment of new laboratory equipment.
- • Collaborate with executive leadership to drive cost-effective, high-quality service delivery in pathology services.
- • Serve as the primary liaison between pathology departments, clinical teams, hospital leadership, and external partners.
- • Support operational excellence through strategic planning, regulatory compliance, and cross-functional stakeholder engagement.
- • Lead initiatives to improve laboratory stewardship, quality improvement, and regulatory adherence across the health system.
🎯 Requirements
- • Minimum of 5 years as a CLIA Lab Director
- • Doctorate required or PhD in life or health sciences with certification in clinical/medical laboratory sciences or laboratory medicine
- • Accomplished and proven experience in regulatory compliance, quality improvement, and laboratory stewardship
- • MD or DO degree with board certification in Pathology (preferred)
- • Minimum of 10 years of experience in pathology and laboratory medicine in a multi-site or integrated healthcare system (preferred)
- • Epic EHR and Beaker LIMS experience (preferred)
