  • • Join NVIDIA, a global leader in transforming computer graphics, PC gaming, and accelerated computing, and be at the forefront of the AI revolution. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced System Software Engineer with a specialized focus on the Slurm Workload Manager to contribute to our cutting-edge technology.
  • • This pivotal role is designed for an individual who thrives in a hybrid environment, seamlessly blending deep C programming expertise with robust Linux systems administration and proactive technical support. You will be instrumental in the design, development, maintenance, and optimization of Slurm, a critical component in High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments.
  • • Your primary responsibilities will involve writing, enhancing, and optimizing software components written in C, ensuring the highest standards of reliability, performance, and maintainability. This includes developing and maintaining system-level and application-level code for Slurm, with a particular emphasis on its networking, system, and device-level functionalities.
  • • You will be tasked with diagnosing and resolving complex Slurm issues, delving into intricate problems related to system reliability and performance. This requires a meticulous approach to debugging and troubleshooting, utilizing advanced tools and techniques to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
  • • A core aspect of this role is the commitment to writing clean, well-documented, and maintainable code that adheres strictly to industry best practices and coding standards. This ensures that the software developed is not only functional but also sustainable and easy for other team members to understand and contribute to.
  • • Collaboration is key. You will work closely with diverse, cross-functional teams, including Operations, Infrastructure, and Deployment engineers. This collaborative spirit is essential for ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance of Slurm within NVIDIA's complex ecosystem.
  • • Beyond development, you will provide direct technical support, offering your expertise to internal teams or external customers who rely on Slurm for their critical workloads. This support function demands excellent communication skills and the ability to translate complex technical issues into understandable solutions.
  • • To uphold the integrity and stability of the software, you will develop and implement automated tests. These tests are crucial for ensuring software reliability, preventing regressions, and maintaining a high level of quality throughout the development lifecycle.
  • • Continuous learning and staying abreast of the latest advancements are vital. You will be expected to remain current with best practices in C programming, compiler technologies, build systems, and other related software engineering disciplines.
  • • This role offers a unique opportunity to work with advanced technologies, including containers and GPU technologies, and to contribute to the infrastructure that powers some of the world's most demanding computational tasks.
  • • You will be part of an environment that deeply values quality and reliability, contributing to systems that are foundational to NVIDIA's success and its customers' achievements.
  • • Embrace the challenge of supporting and enhancing a core component of HPC infrastructure, directly impacting the efficiency and scalability of complex computing environments.
  • • Contribute to the evolution of Slurm, a widely adopted open-source workload manager, by implementing new features, improving existing ones, and ensuring its continued robustness and performance.
  • • Engage in the full software development lifecycle, from design and implementation to testing, deployment, and ongoing support, within an agile and dynamic setting.
  • • Leverage your problem-solving acumen to tackle challenging technical hurdles and drive innovative solutions that enhance system performance and user experience.
  • • Become an integral part of a team dedicated to pushing the boundaries of what's possible in accelerated computing and artificial intelligence.
