Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • As a Principal Hardware Design Engineer at d-Matrix Corporation, you will serve as a cornerstone of the hardware organization, leading the development of world-class platforms for silicon-integrated AI accelerators that power the next generation of generative AI workloads. Your work will directly enable breakthrough performance in large language model (LLM) inference by architecting the physical foundation of Chiplet-based NPU systems, making you instrumental in solving one of the industry’s most pressing computational challenges.
  • • You will own the end-to-end hardware development lifecycle for complex, high-performance AI accelerator PCIe cards and chassis platforms, from architectural concept through detailed design, validation, and manufacturing readiness. This includes driving schematic capture, component selection, BOM management, and high-speed signal and power integrity analysis for multi-rail systems operating at 32Gbps+ data rates, ensuring seamless integration with silicon, thermal, mechanical, and signal integrity teams.
  • • Day-to-day, you will architect and oversee the layout of ultra-high-speed interfaces including PCIe Gen5/6, CXL, and custom chiplet-to-chiplet interconnects, while designing robust power delivery networks (PDN) capable of handling extreme current transients and low-voltage rails demanded by advanced AI silicon. You will conduct rigorous hardware bring-up and validation using high-speed oscilloscopes, BERTs, VNA/TDR equipment, and drive Design for Excellence (DFx) initiatives covering DFM, DFT, and DFA to ensure high yield and long-term reliability in data center environments.
  • • You will act as a technical mentor and leader, guiding junior engineers, establishing hardware design best practices, and communicating complex technical trade-offs clearly to cross-functional stakeholders and executive leadership. Your ability to synthesize deep technical insights into actionable decisions will be critical in aligning hardware roadmaps with product and silicon goals.
  • • d-Matrix fosters a culture of respect, collaboration, humility, and direct communication, where diverse perspectives are valued as a source of innovation. You will join a mission-driven team focused on pushing the boundaries of AI compute through integrated software and hardware innovation, working in a hybrid model at the Santa Clara headquarters 3–5 days per week.
  • • In this role, you will have the opportunity to shape the future of AI infrastructure by working on cutting-edge technologies that are redefining how AI workloads are accelerated at scale. You will gain deep expertise in high-speed signaling, power integrity, and advanced packaging technologies while contributing to products that address the growing demands of LLM inference in enterprise AI.

🎯 Requirements

  • • BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • • 10+ years of experience in high-complexity hardware design within semiconductor, server, or networking industries
  • • Mastery of Cadence Allegro/Orcad or similar high-end EDA tools for schematic capture and layout
  • • Deep understanding of signal and power integrity (SI/PI) fundamentals, including jitter, crosstalk, and impedance control for 32Gbps+ signals
  • • Proficiency with high-speed oscilloscopes, BERTs, VNA/TDR for hardware bring-up and validation
  • • Ability to distill complex technical trade-offs into actionable decisions for executive leadership

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Opportunity to work on pioneering AI accelerator technologies at the forefront of generative AI innovation
  • • Hybrid work model with onsite collaboration at Santa Clara headquarters 3–5 days per week
  • • Collaborative, inclusive culture rooted in respect, humility, and direct communication
  • • Mentorship and leadership role in shaping hardware design excellence across the organization
  • • Exposure to cutting-edge technologies including PCIe Gen5/6, CXL, liquid cooling, and OCP standards
  • • Commitment to professional growth through challenging, impactful work in high-performance AI systems
