Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • Own the full-cycle recruitment journey for high-volume Distribution Centre roles (order pickers, forklift operators, cell operators, dispatchers) and corporate Home Office positions (analysts, buyers, advisors, assistants), ensuring every requisition is filled quickly and with top-tier talent.
  • • Partner with hiring managers across our Ottawa Head Office, Johnstown and Brockville Distribution Centres to craft strategic recruitment plans that align talent acquisition with Giant Tiger’s aggressive growth targets and seasonal peaks.
  • • Source, screen, and assess candidates using Workday ATS, LinkedIn, Indeed, and niche job boards; build evergreen talent pipelines so critical roles can be filled in days, not weeks.
  • • Influence and advise stakeholders at every level—from warehouse supervisors to senior directors—translating business needs into compelling job postings, interview guides, and offer strategies that secure “yes” from the best candidates.
  • • Negotiate competitive offers that balance base salary, bonuses, vacation, and flexible work arrangements while safeguarding internal equity and adhering to Giant Tiger’s compensation philosophy.
  • • Act as the face of Giant Tiger at quarterly on-site satisfaction audits, job fairs, and community events; travel to stores and warehouses to deepen market knowledge and amplify our employer brand.
  • • Train and upskill hiring managers on behavioural interviewing, inclusive hiring practices, and Workday functionality, turning them into confident talent partners who champion an exceptional candidate experience.
  • • Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion in every search; proactively remove barriers and provide accommodations so every candidate can showcase their full potential.
  • • Maintain meticulous documentation throughout the recruitment process—requisitions, interview notes, reference checks, and offer letters—ensuring compliance and enabling data-driven insights.
  • • Leverage market intelligence and competitor analysis to recommend innovative sourcing tactics, referral programs, and employer-branding initiatives that keep Giant Tiger ahead in a tight labour market.
  • • Demonstrate a relentless sense of urgency: anticipate roadblocks, escalate issues before they stall a search, and keep candidates engaged with transparent, timely communication.
  • • Contribute to continuous improvement by sharing best practices, participating in TA retrospectives, and piloting new tools or workflows that reduce time-to-fill and elevate quality-of-hire.
  • • Thrive in a hybrid environment—three days in our Ottawa Head Office collaborating with HRBPs and leadership, two days remote or on-site at distribution centres—while enjoying free parking, 24/7 gym access, and a full-service cafeteria.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Minimum 2 years of experience in talent acquisition, business development, sales, customer service, retail, hospitality, or any people-focused role where communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving are critical
  • • Proven proficiency with an ATS (Workday preferred), HRIS, and online job boards such as LinkedIn and Indeed
  • • Demonstrated ability to headhunt, screen, and assess candidates against both technical requirements and cultural fit
  • • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the capacity to adapt style to diverse audiences—from warehouse floor staff to C-suite executives
  • • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Hybrid “Work Your Way” arrangement—blend remote flexibility with on-site collaboration at our Ottawa Head Office and distribution centres
  • • 10 % in-store discount and exclusive onsite perks including free parking, 24/7 gym access, and a full-service cafeteria
  • • Transit-friendly Head Office location plus mileage reimbursement when travelling to Johnstown and Brockville sites
  • • Full-time temporary contract until November 6, 2026, with potential for extension or permanent conversion based on performance and business needs
