Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • Lead the technical roadmap for a product that removes the anxiety from life’s most critical moments. As Cocoon’s Technical Program Manager, you will orchestrate cross-functional initiatives that turn a fragmented, paper-heavy leave process into a seamless, digital-first experience for employees and HR teams alike.
  • • Own the end-to-end delivery of high-impact programs—from scoping and requirements gathering through launch and post-mortem—ensuring that every feature ships on time, within budget, and with measurable user value.
  • • Translate complex regulatory requirements (FMLA, state leave laws, disability insurance, paid family leave, etc.) into clear technical specifications that engineers, designers, and compliance partners can execute against without ambiguity.
  • • Build and maintain a living program roadmap that balances short-term customer needs with long-term platform scalability; you will ruthlessly prioritize features, negotiate trade-offs, and communicate decisions transparently to all stakeholders.
  • • Drive agile ceremonies across multiple squads (product, engineering, design, data, and customer success), keeping teams aligned on sprint goals, unblocked on dependencies, and focused on outcomes rather than outputs.
  • • Partner with Customer Success and Implementation teams to capture real-time feedback from employers and employees, then rapidly iterate on the product to reduce friction in claims filing, payroll integrations, and benefits coordination.
  • • Establish and monitor KPIs for program health—deployment frequency, defect escape rate, customer NPS, and time-to-approval for leave requests—using these metrics to guide continuous improvement and celebrate wins.
  • • Champion a culture of documentation and knowledge sharing; you will create lightweight yet comprehensive specs, decision logs, and runbooks so that any new team member can ramp up in days, not weeks.
  • • Collaborate with external partners (insurance carriers, payroll providers, government agencies) to design APIs and data-exchange protocols that are secure, compliant, and future-proof.
  • • Anticipate risks before they become fires: you will run quarterly risk-assessment workshops, maintain RAID logs, and develop mitigation plans that keep launches smooth and customers confident.
  • • Serve as the voice of technical feasibility during product strategy sessions, ensuring that ambitious ideas are grounded in scalable architecture and realistic resourcing.
  • • Mentor junior TPMs and project coordinators, fostering a community of practice around program management excellence and servant leadership.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 5+ years of technical program or product management experience in a SaaS environment, ideally with B2B or HR-tech products
  • • Demonstrated success shipping complex, regulated software that integrates with third-party systems (payroll, insurance, or government APIs)
  • • Deep fluency in agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) and tools such as Jira, Linear, or Asana; able to tailor processes to team maturity and business urgency
  • • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills—comfortable presenting to executives, negotiating with vendors, and translating technical jargon for non-technical audiences
  • • Nice-to-have: experience with leave-management, benefits administration, or HRIS integrations; familiarity with SOC 2, HIPAA, or other compliance frameworks

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Fully remote-first culture with quarterly off-sites in inspiring locations (past retreats: Lake Tahoe, Mexico City, Lisbon)
  • • Competitive salary plus meaningful equity in a fast-growing, mission-driven company
  • • 20 weeks fully-paid parental leave (yes, we use our own product!) and unlimited PTO with a 15-day minimum
  • • Annual $2,000 learning stipend for courses, conferences, or coaching of your choice
