Full Job Description

📋 Description

  • • As a Technical Program Manager at Fundamental, you will serve as the essential connective tissue between Research, Engineering, and Infrastructure teams, ensuring seamless collaboration and execution of high-impact AI initiatives. Your role is critical in enabling the research team to maintain velocity by removing blockers, aligning resources, and translating ambitious technical goals into actionable plans—directly contributing to the development of NEXUS, the world’s most powerful Large Tabular Model, which drives enterprise decision-making for Fortune 100 companies.
  • • You will own the full lifecycle of research programs, from initial scoping and roadmapping through execution and post-launch evaluation, ensuring that milestones are met with precision and adaptability. This includes working closely with researchers to break down complex objectives into clear, trackable deliverables, managing timelines, and adjusting plans as new data or insights emerge—all while maintaining momentum in a fast-paced, early-stage environment.
  • • Day-to-day, you will implement lightweight, ‘just enough’ processes to keep teams agile, facilitating effective stand-ups, retrospectives, and planning sessions that reduce friction without introducing bureaucracy. You will proactively track cross-functional dependencies—such as data availability, compute resource allocation, and tooling needs—ensuring that research efforts are not delayed by avoidable bottlenecks.
  • • As an early team member, you will play a foundational role in shaping Fundamental’s internal operations by helping define documentation standards, collaboration practices, and tooling ecosystems that scale with the company. Your contributions will directly influence how the organization communicates, prioritizes, and executes as it grows.
  • • You will develop strong relationships with stakeholders across functions, acting as a trusted advisor and force multiplier whose presence amplifies team effectiveness. Through proactive communication and stakeholder alignment, you will ensure that everyone—from individual contributors to leadership—is working toward shared goals with clarity and cohesion.
  • • In this role, you will deepen your technical fluency in AI and machine learning systems, particularly around the machine learning lifecycle and tabular data workflows, while building expertise in program management within a cutting-edge research environment. You’ll gain hands-on experience in scaling early-stage tech companies, learning how to balance innovation with operational discipline.
  • • This position offers a unique opportunity to grow into a technical leadership role, combining your project management strengths with expanding AI knowledge to become a strategic enabler of breakthrough research. You’ll leave a lasting impact on how Fundamental builds and deploys enterprise AI, helping unlock trillions of dollars in value for global businesses.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 1-3 years of experience in a technical project or program management role, or a background in software engineering/data science with a clear motivation to transition into leadership
  • • Comfort with ambiguity and a proactive mindset—ready to pivot when priorities shift, embrace changing data, and roll up your sleeves to support the team wherever needed
  • • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to align diverse stakeholders across research, engineering, and infrastructure teams
  • • A proactive commitment to expanding technical competencies, staying current with evolving AI tools, technologies, and methodologies
  • • Happiness in facilitating end-to-end alignment, ensuring all contributors are working cohesively toward shared objectives

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Competitive compensation package including base salary and equity participation
  • • Comprehensive health coverage encompassing medical, dental, vision, and 401K retirement plans
  • • Fertility support and paid parental leave for all new parents, inclusive of adoptive, surrogate, and biological journeys
  • • Relocation support for employees moving to join Fundamental’s European office locations
  • • A mission-driven, low-ego culture that champions diversity of thought, ownership, and a bias toward action
