Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Spend 10 unforgettable weeks (May–August 2025) on-site at Genuine Parts Company’s Atlanta headquarters, a Fortune 200 powerhouse whose 96-year legacy spans automotive and industrial distribution across 17 countries. You will be embedded in the heart of Windy Hill, minutes from I-75, working shoulder-to-shoulder with cybersecurity experts who protect a $23-billion revenue engine.
- • Own end-to-end mini-projects that apply AI and automation to real-time threat hunting. You will ingest live telemetry from CrowdStrike, Google Threat Intelligence, and Chronicle; train VertexAI models to spot anomalies; and trigger automatic quarantine workflows that stop attacks before they spread across 10,000+ endpoints and cloud workloads.
- • Experiment with bleeding-edge stacks: build Python micro-services that call VertexAI endpoints, prototype Copilot-assisted incident-response playbooks, and test Cursor-driven code generation to accelerate secure-by-design development. Every line you write is peer-reviewed by senior architects and may ship to production within weeks.
- • Present findings twice: once at mid-summer to the Chief Information & Digital Officer and again at the final intern showcase attended by Technology VPs and the CIO council. Top presentations earn prizes and fast-track interviews for full-time 2027 roles.
- • Network relentlessly: weekly coffee chats with C-suite leaders, lunch-and-learns on zero-trust architecture, and after-hours meetups with Atlanta’s security community. Alumni routinely credit these connections for lucrative job offers and graduate-school recommendations.
- • Join a cohort culture that balances intensity with fun. Past summers included private Braves games, behind-the-scenes tours of GPC’s 1.2-million-square-foot distribution center, and scavenger hunts through historic Atlanta sites. You will leave with lifelong friends and an insider view of Fortune 200 operations.
- • Contribute to community impact: GPC’s cybersecurity team mentors local STEM students and supports Girls Who Code Atlanta. Interns are encouraged to lead a session, earning volunteer hours and leadership credit that bolster résumés and graduate applications.
- • Receive structured mentorship: each intern is paired with a senior engineer for daily stand-ups, a manager for weekly career coaching, and an executive sponsor for strategic guidance. Feedback loops are formalized through OKRs, ensuring measurable skill growth in AI, cloud security, and agile delivery.
- • Leave with a portfolio artifact: a GitHub repo showcasing AI-driven threat-detection models, IaC templates for secure cloud deployments, and a published white-paper co-authored with your mentor—material that distinguishes you in future interviews and academic submissions.
- • Explore GPC’s dual-business model: see how cybersecurity safeguards both NAPA Auto Parts retail systems and Motion Industries’ B2B e-commerce platform. This breadth exposes you to PCI-DSS, ISO 27001, and NIST frameworks in a single summer, a rare learning accelerant.
🎯 Requirements
- • Rising junior or senior (as of summer 2026) pursuing an undergraduate degree in computer science, software development, cybersecurity, or a related technology discipline
- • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.6 (strongly preferred) and enrollment at a university recognized for top-tier technology or engineering programs
- • Demonstrated experience in at least one of the following: application development, distributed systems, machine learning, natural language processing, or AI/ML model deployment
- • Hands-on familiarity with one or more of CrowdStrike, Google Threat Intelligence, Chronicle, Cyera, Cloudflare, VertexAI, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Windsurf (coursework, labs, or personal projects acceptable)
- • Passion for continuous learning, ethical hacking, or cybersecurity competitions (CTFs, bug-bounty programs, or security clubs) evidenced by GitHub contributions, conference talks, or published research
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive intern salary plus housing stipend or fully furnished corporate housing within walking distance of the Windy Hill campus
- • All-access pass to GPC’s Tech Summit, Braves games, behind-the-scenes distribution-center tours, and curated Atlanta cultural experiences—fully company-sponsored
- • Direct exposure to C-suite and VP-level technology leaders through weekly roundtables, executive lunches, and guaranteed final-presentation feedback
- • Fast-track consideration for full-time Technology Development Program offers starting 2027, including signing bonus and accelerated promotion track
