• • As an Import Compliance Specialist, your primary focus will be on the operational and compliance aspects of U.S. import laws and regulations. This includes meticulous attention to customs documentation, accurate tariff classification, and precise country-of-origin determinations. Your expertise will directly contribute to mitigating risks, optimizing import processes, and maintaining the highest standards of regulatory adherence for our clients.
• • A core responsibility of this position involves the preparation and thorough review of all necessary import documentation and filings. You will ensure that these documents meet the stringent requirements of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and other relevant government agencies. This includes, but is not limited to, import entries, declarations, and any supporting documentation required for customs clearance.
• • You will serve as a key advisor to internal teams and external clients, providing expert guidance on Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification. This involves researching and applying the correct HTS codes to ensure accurate duty payments and compliance with trade agreements. Furthermore, you will offer counsel on tariff implications, duty drawback opportunities, and the complexities of country-of-origin rules, which are critical for trade preference programs and compliance.
• • This role actively supports cross-border transactions and the day-to-day import operations for a wide array of multinational clients. You will work collaboratively with logistics, supply chain, and legal teams to facilitate efficient and compliant import activities, troubleshoot any issues that arise, and ensure timely delivery of goods.
• • A crucial aspect of your role will be to stay abreast of the ever-evolving landscape of international trade regulations. You will proactively monitor changes in U.S. Customs laws, trade policies, and other relevant legislation. Based on these insights, you will recommend and implement necessary process improvements, policy updates, and training initiatives to ensure Axiom and its clients remain at the forefront of compliance.
