📋 Description

• As a Truss Designer at Carter Lumber, you will play a pivotal role in translating architectural visions into tangible, high-quality roof and floor truss systems. This position is crucial to our manufacturing process, ensuring that the structural integrity and precision of our products meet the exacting standards of the construction industry and our valued clientele.
• Your primary responsibility will be the meticulous design and creation of production plans for roof and floor trusses. This involves a deep understanding of structural engineering principles and the ability to interpret complex blueprints and architectural drawings provided by our customers.
• You will be tasked with producing accurate and timely drawings that serve as the foundation for our fabrication and assembly teams, directly impacting the efficiency and success of our manufacturing operations.
• A strong grasp of commonly used concepts and practices within the construction industry is essential. This includes familiarity with building codes, material properties, and standard construction methodologies to ensure your designs are not only functional but also compliant and safe.
• You will leverage your expertise to evaluate designs, ensuring they adhere to established design standards and best practices. This involves a critical review process to identify and rectify any potential issues before production begins.
• A significant part of your role will involve analyzing and troubleshooting. You will meticulously review and analyze specifications, blueprints, engineered drawings, and related design documents to identify factors that could affect the design of wall, truss, and engineered wood components.

• Your support extends to assisting our stores in effectively responding to customer questions and concerns, acting as a subject matter expert on truss design and application.
• This role demands a high level of knowledge in the application of the products you are designing. Understanding how trusses are installed, their load-bearing capacities, and their interaction with other building elements is paramount.
• You will utilize your proficiency in basic mathematics, geometry, and trigonometry to perform complex calculations necessary for structural design and load analysis.
• The ability to read and interpret architectural and structural plans is a fundamental requirement, enabling you to translate two-dimensional drawings into three-dimensional structural solutions.
• Problem-solving is at the core of this position. You will need to demonstrate a strong ability to analyze situations, troubleshoot design challenges, and develop effective, practical solutions.
