- • The UM Specialist role at Seven Counties Services Inc. is critical to ensuring clients receive timely and accurate authorization for mental health, intellectual disability, and substance abuse services by verifying insurance benefits and managing the utilization review process.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include verifying client benefits, obtaining initial and subsequent authorizations, tracking recertification needs for behavioral health providers, completing insurance forms, resolving billing inquiries, and explaining charges and payment policies to clients and families.
- • The role supports the company’s mission of delivering accessible behavioral health services by streamlining administrative and billing processes to reduce delays in care.
- • This position offers the opportunity to develop expertise in healthcare authorization, medical billing, insurance verification, and behavioral health reimbursement systems while building strong communication and problem-solving skills in a mission-driven environment.
🎯 Requirements
- • Completion of up to 18 months’ additional business education beyond high school
- • Two to three years of related administrative experience in an insurance or managed care setting
- • Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT, HCPC, and revenue codes
- • Excellent observation skills, analytical thinking, problem solving, and verbal/written communication
- • Typing speed of 45–55 words per minute
- • Basic computer skills and customer service abilities
