  • • Lead CNA’s national Construction underwriting audit program, owning the strategic roadmap that safeguards underwriting quality, profitability and competitive positioning across one of the company’s most complex and high-exposure lines of business.
  • • Design and execute risk-focused audit plans that evaluate risk appetite, pricing adequacy, coverage grants, authority levels and workflow efficiency for both new and renewal construction portfolios, translating findings into measurable action plans that drive continuous improvement.
  • • Partner directly with Senior Management, Regional VPs and Product Line Leaders to prioritize audit initiatives, secure resources and ensure that every audit engagement delivers clear, data-driven insights that influence underwriting strategy and governance.
  • • Build and lead cross-functional audit teams drawn from Underwriting, Risk Control, Claims, Actuarial and Compliance; provide coaching, technical guidance and quality oversight so that each engagement meets CNA’s rigorous standards and delivers actionable recommendations.
  • • Analyze competitor filings, emerging market exposures (e.g., mass timber, modular construction, green building techniques) and regulatory changes, synthesizing intelligence into concise briefings that shape corporate underwriting guidelines and appetite statements.
  • • Conduct deep-dive file reviews using statistical sampling and predictive analytics to assess selection, pricing adequacy, terms & conditions adherence and documentation quality; quantify financial impact and present findings to executive audiences.
  • • Drive remediation efforts by collaborating with field underwriters and branch leadership to close critical control gaps, refine authority matrices, enhance referral triggers and embed best-practice workflows that reduce leakage and improve cycle time.
  • • Own the development and maintenance of audit criteria, checklists and scoring rubrics; ensure alignment with NAIC guidelines, ISO standards and CNA’s enterprise risk framework while incorporating lessons learned from prior audits and industry loss trends.
  • • Serve as a subject-matter expert on Construction underwriting during internal training sessions, external broker meetings and industry conferences, elevating CNA’s brand and reinforcing our reputation for technical excellence and disciplined risk selection.
  • • Champion a culture of transparency and accountability by publishing audit dashboards, trend analyses and heat maps that enable leaders to monitor portfolio health in real time and make proactive underwriting decisions.
  • • Leverage advanced data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau) and Microsoft Office Suite to craft executive-ready presentations that distill complex audit results into clear narratives, supported by robust quantitative evidence.
  • • Travel up to 30 % domestically to conduct on-site audits, facilitate workshops and build trusted relationships with underwriting teams, ensuring that audit insights translate into sustainable behavioral change at the point of sale.
