- • Responsible for the business results, profitability, growth, analysis, and monitoring of an assigned book of Accountants Professional Liability insurance business.
- • Serve as a technical expert in Accountants Professional Liability underwriting, with additional responsibilities for Accounting firm Cyber and Employment Practices Liability insurance.
- • Assess highly complex underwriting risks using diagnostic and systematic analysis to determine acceptability and develop specialized endorsement language for complex exposures.
- • Determine appropriate pricing for complex risks based on financial and competitive analysis, adhering to compliance requirements with minimal supervision.
- • Make strategic recommendations on underwriting policy and pricing strategy for the assigned book of business.
- • Analyze the quality, quantity, and profitability of underwritten risks; prepare and present detailed reports to management.
- • Market insurance products and services through agencies and the brokerage community, including conducting field visits to clients and partners.
- • Develop and maintain strong relationships with large producers and brokers within the assigned territory to achieve profitable outcomes on high-risk business.
- • Stay current on state and territorial insurance regulations, industry trends, and market activity; may participate in industry trade groups.
- • Mentor and guide less experienced underwriters, contributing to underwriting training and professional development initiatives.
- • Utilize advanced functionality within CNA’s internal systems to perform daily underwriting tasks and manage workflow efficiently.
- • Lead special underwriting projects and deliver presentations on complex risk assessments or strategic initiatives.
- • Operate with broad authority within general management direction on assignments requiring high technical complexity and coordination.
- • Flexibility in title based on experience: may be hired as Underwriter, Underwriting Specialist, or Underwriting Consulting Director.
- • Hybrid work model: expected to work from the CNA office closest to home; remote work may be arranged if no office is within commutable distance.
🎯 Requirements
- • Minimum of 5 to 8 years of underwriting experience
- • Advanced technical expertise in insurance underwriting principles, practices, and procedures
- • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; professional designations preferred
- • Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
- • Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities with capacity to manage multiple complex projects
- • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to mentor junior underwriters
