📋 Description

• Participate in a three-day, in-person externship program at Valon’s NYC office from July 8–10, 2026, as part of a small cohort of builders aged 16–21.
• Work directly alongside Valon engineers building the company’s internal AI tooling stack, including Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, MCP servers, and proprietary internal tools.
• Use the same development environment and tools that Valon engineers use daily — no simulations, no shadowing, no lectures.
• Select and own a project that matters to you, such as an agentic workflow, an eval harness, an internal developer tool, or a developer experience improvement.
• Build without constraints — leverage AI coding agents and modern tooling to create something tangible and functional within the three-day window.
• Pair with engineers, ask questions, observe real-world workflows, and learn how production-grade AI tooling is developed and deployed in a regulated finance environment.
• Deliver a live demo of your project to the Valon engineering team on the final day of the program; the only formal deliverable is the demonstration of your work.
• No prior internship experience, CS degree, or formal coursework is required — proof of shipping real projects is the sole qualification.
• Engage with AI tooling as a daily practice, not as a novelty — demonstrate familiarity with coding agents, their strengths, limitations, and your personal preferences among them.
• Communicate clearly about your work: explain what you built, what broke, what you learned, and why — without slides or formal presentations.
• Bring your own ideas and a list of projects you’d build if given time, resources, and expert peers — the externship provides all three.
• Stay connected after the program: strong demos may lead to follow-up conversations with Valon’s engineering and recruiting teams.
• The program is fully in-person; remote participation is not permitted.
• All participants receive a paid stipend for the three days; the exact amount is disclosed to shortlisted applicants.
• Travel and housing are not covered by default, but applicants who cite financial barriers may request assistance during the application process.
• Applicants under 18 must provide parent or guardian consent as part of the application.
• The program runs as a fixed cohort — partial attendance is not allowed.
