  • • The Vice President of New Course Design and Development will establish vision and methods for designing, developing, and launching new AP courses to extend AP coursework to students not currently engaged by existing offerings, with a focus on fields of post-secondary relevance and career connections.
  • • Day to day, the role involves leading and managing a high-performing remote team of ~25 curricular researchers, instructional designers, and project managers (with 4 direct reports), setting vision and priorities, tracking progress, providing coaching, cultivating an inclusive culture, sitting on the AP Leadership Team, representing the AP Program at conferences, and partnering with Access and State and District Partnerships colleagues to observe classroom testing and implementation of new content.
  • • The College Board’s Advanced Placement and Instruction division (300+ staff) develops and administers coursework taken by over 3 million students worldwide each year and related exams used by more than 4,000 colleges and universities for course placement and college credit, including AP and Pre-AP courses in 40+ disciplines and teacher professional learning programs.
  • • In this role, the person will lead the New Course Design and Development department through phases including analysis, course design & development, exam design & development, instructional resources, and evaluation & continuous improvement for each new AP course, with the initial scope to develop and launch six-to-eight new AP courses in Fall 2028 and Fall 2029 from possibilities including Introduction to Health Science, Anatomy and Physiology, Marketing and Sales, Digital Media and Design, Engineering, Data Science, Agricultural Science, and Advanced Manufacturing.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 15+ years of experience in education, curriculum, or assessment development; experience with career-focused or CTE pathways strongly preferred
  • • Deep understanding of secondary education, including state standards, career pathways, and authentic assessment of knowledge and durable skills
  • • Proven ability to lead complex, high-impact initiatives from concept through execution
  • • Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills
  • • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across disciplines and influence diverse stakeholders
  • • Experience building, developing, and retaining high-performing teams
