📋 Description

• VP Physical AI is a brand new leadership role at Toloka AI, combining deep technical expertise in AI/ML with proven leadership to drive the design, development, and deployment of cutting-edge generative AI solutions for physical systems.
• The role involves defining and executing the Physical AI data roadmap across egocentric capture, humanoid robotics, industrial/warehouse automation, and autonomous vehicles; owning the P&L of the emerging Physical AI business; anticipating frontier robotics lab needs 12–18 months ahead; and ensuring methodologies feed back into the core QA platform.
• Day-to-day responsibilities include leading lab operations (workforce, equipment, safety, data capture workflows, output quality), scaling lab capacity against commercial commitments, establishing QA standards for Physical AI data integrated with the agentic LLM-QA verification system, and driving continuous improvement in collection efficiency, annotation quality, and simulation fidelity.
• The VP will build and own the partner ecosystem with robotics hardware manufacturers, simulation providers, academic institutions, and domain experts; lead commercial relationships with Physical AI customers from scoping to expansion; identify and close strategic partnerships for hardware access, proprietary environments, and domain datasets; and represent Toloka externally at industry forums and research conferences across Europe and the US.
• The role includes hiring, developing, and retaining data engineers, robotics specialists, and project leads; structuring the function to scale for bespoke engagements and productized delivery; and serving as the internal expert and evangelist for Physical AI, educating the wider organization on Wave 5 demands.
• Toloka AI creates data that powers leading GenAI models and innovations, working with frontier labs, big tech, AI startups, enterprises, and non-profit research organizations worldwide. • In this role, the VP Physical AI will have the opportunity to shape a new business function from the ground up, drive innovation at the intersection of AI and physical systems, build strategic partnerships with industry leaders, and establish Toloka as a pioneer in Physical AI data solutions while developing leadership and technical expertise in a high-impact, fast-paced international environment.

🎯 Requirements

• Track record of building functions from early stage, not just managing mature organisations
• Direct experience building or scaling data pipelines for robotics, autonomous systems, or physical AI — not purely software AI
• Demonstrated ability to close and manage strategic partnerships — hardware vendors, research institutions, or enterprise clients
• Familiarity with robotics hardware: sensors, embodied data collection constraints, simulation-to-physical gaps
• Commercial fluency: scope, price, and negotiate complex data engagements with senior technical buyers
• Credibility in the Physical AI or robotics ecosystem — network and reputation that open doors
