- • The Wind Hub Technician is a critical and active role responsible for maintaining optimal function and output at wind sites by performing daily turbine operations, maintenance, safety checks, quality control, and warranty repairs. This role is essential to ensuring reliable wind energy production and supporting GE Vernova’s growing onshore wind power capacity.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include working with site leadership to execute contractual obligations, performing maintenance and repairs on electrical and mechanical turbine components, troubleshooting complex hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems, conducting diagnostic electrical analysis, documenting work via computer-based service reporting, and responding to GE’s remote operations center when needed.
- • The role operates within GE Vernova’s Onshore Wind division, which emphasizes safety, training, development, and career progression. Technicians collaborate with Site Leads and Managers to meet contract timelines and uphold GE’s standards of excellence across multiple wind sites in IL Hub 2.
- • In this role, the technician will gain hands-on experience with advanced wind turbine systems, develop expertise in electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems, and build a career path in renewable energy field operations with opportunities for advancement and professional development.
🎯 Requirements
- • High School Diploma or GED, and minimum of 1 year experience as a Wind Technician or Wind Mechanic
- • Valid driver’s license and ability to handle repetitive lifting of 50 lbs., climb towers up to 300 feet daily, and meet manufacturer weight limits (not exceeding 300 lbs. including gear)
- • Understanding of electrical schematic drawings, technical manuals, procedures, and regulations; ability to work in industrial, manufacturing, and power industry environments
