📋 Description

  • As a Workers Comp Claims Specialist at National Interstate, a distinguished member of Great American Insurance Group and a leader in commercial transportation insurance, you will play a pivotal role in managing a substantial portfolio of complex workers' compensation claims. This fully remote position offers the opportunity to leverage your expertise in evaluating compensability and liability, conducting thorough investigations, and negotiating settlements to ensure fair and efficient claim resolution.
  • Your primary responsibility will involve meticulously managing a large inventory of complex claims, requiring a deep understanding of workers' compensation laws and insurance principles to accurately assess compensability and liability. This involves planning and executing detailed investigations to confirm coverage, establish liability, and determine the extent of damages, ensuring all aspects of the claim are thoroughly examined.
  • You will be empowered to analyze and negotiate appropriate claim settlements and reserves within your assigned authority. This critical function requires strong analytical skills, a keen understanding of potential outcomes, and the ability to make sound financial decisions. In some instances, you may be required to participate in arbitrations, mediations, depositions, or trials, representing the company's interests with professionalism and expertise.
  • A key aspect of this role is the ability to clearly and effectively communicate complex information regarding coverage, claim status, and settlement offers to a diverse range of stakeholders, including insureds, claimants, legal counsel, and other external partners. Building and maintaining strong relationships through transparent and professional communication is paramount.
  • You will be responsible for authorizing payments in accordance with your assigned authority limits, ensuring that all approved payments are processed accurately and in a timely manner, thereby upholding the company's commitment to prompt claim resolution.
  • Maintaining comprehensive and meticulously organized claim files is essential. This includes documenting all correspondence, investigation reports, medical records, legal documents, and settlement agreements, ensuring a complete and accurate history of each claim for future reference and audit purposes.
  • While this role primarily focuses on individual claim management, there may be opportunities to contribute to the development of junior staff. This could involve providing guidance, coaching, and sharing your extensive knowledge to support their growth within the Claims department. You may also participate in decisions related to talent selection, development, and performance management for any direct reports, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and expertise.
  • This position demands a proactive approach to staying abreast of evolving industry laws, regulations, and best practices in workers' compensation claims handling. You will be expected to continuously enhance your specialized knowledge to ensure compliance and optimal claim outcomes.
  • By joining National Interstate, you become part of an organization that values integrity, transparency, fairness, accountability, empowerment, and collaboration. You will contribute to a company that has specialized in serving the insurance needs of the transportation industry since 1989, earning a reputation for expertise in product design, loss control, and claim services. This role offers the chance to work remotely across the USA, contributing to a company recognized for its commitment to its employees and its industry leadership.
