- • Translate Christian theological content—including sermons, Scripture commentaries, catechetical materials, liturgical texts, and devotional resources—between English and native French Canadian with high accuracy and doctrinal consistency.
- • Ensure translations reflect market-specific ecclesiastical traditions, theological terminology, and formatting conventions appropriate to the target faith community in French Canada.
- • Apply rigorous quality standards to deliver precise, faithful content where theological accuracy and sensitivity to scriptural intent are critical to the meaning and reception of the text.
- • Adapt sermons, Christian media, and ministry video content for multilingual audiences through accurate subtitling and culturally appropriate localization.
- • Collaborate closely with production and quality teams to meet client requirements, deadlines, and project specifications.
- • Work as an independent contractor with full autonomy over schedule, choosing when and how much to work without fixed hours, check-ins, or micromanagement.
- • Maintain strict adherence to provided terminology guides, reference materials, and style standards to ensure consistency across all deliverables.
- • Deliver high-quality translations and subtitling tasks requiring a minimum of 2 hours per day or 10 hours per week, with reliable availability and commitment to on-time delivery.
- • Contribute to cutting-edge AI and language technology projects that enhance human-machine communication through human-verified linguistic outputs.
- • Engage with a global community of linguists and subject matter experts working on diverse, impactful projects that advance human knowledge and accessibility across languages.
- • Expand professional portfolio and sharpen translation skills through exposure to innovative projects across theological and religious domains.
- • Operate as a 1099 contractor with no guaranteed hours, benefits, or employment protections; responsible for own tax obligations and compliance.
- • Accept project assignments only when able to meet quality and deadline expectations, understanding that work availability fluctuates with client demand.
- • Participate in a multi-step onboarding process including application submission, domain-specific translation testing, and completion of payment and compliance forms.
🎯 Requirements
- • Native-level proficiency in French Canadian
- • Graduate qualification in translation, linguistics, or language studies, OR graduate qualification in another field plus 2 years of full-time professional translation experience, OR 5 years of full-time professional translation experience
- • Proven professional experience in translation, localization, or subtitling within the theological or religious domain
- • Ability to follow terminology and reference materials precisely
- • Reliable availability and commitment to deliver a minimum of 2 hours per day or 10 hours per week
