📋 Description

• Performs phlebotomy and specimen collection in compliance with Prisma Health policies and procedures approved by the Laboratory Director.
• Follows all patient identification procedures to ensure accurate and safe specimen handling.
• Initiates pre-testing protocols as assigned and performs waived laboratory testing.
• Accurately transcribes laboratory orders and accessions specimens into operational systems.
• Maintains a fast and accurate work pace while managing fluctuating workloads, including stat orders and emergencies.
• Adjusts workflow dynamically in response to changing clinical demands and departmental needs.
• Assists in dividing workload among team members to maximize productivity and efficiency.
• Performs clerical office duties including phone duty, documentation, and recordkeeping.
• Conducts inventory management for laboratory supplies and ensures adequate stock levels.
• Performs courier duties with a safe driving record to transport specimens and materials between departments or locations.
• Uses all laboratory instruments and equipment according to their intended function.
• Performs routine maintenance, troubleshoots error codes, and completes all calibration and quality control functions.
• Works independently with limited supervision while maintaining compliance with all laboratory standards.
• Collaborates with nursing staff and other ordering providers to determine appropriate timing and correlation of laboratory orders.
• Demonstrates sound judgment in assessing situations, considering alternatives, and selecting appropriate actions.
• Continually seeks to improve job skills and stays current with procedures and policies.
• Uses downtime between tasks to support other departments through assisting staff, organizing supplies, or completing administrative duties.
• Maintains a high standard of customer service when interacting with patients, nurses, and healthcare providers.
• Possesses proficient computer skills and typing ability to operate multiple operational systems.
• Applies strong mathematical, verbal, and written communication skills in daily responsibilities.

🎯 Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent or post-high school diploma
• One (1) year of phlebotomy experience
• Current certification from ASCP, ASPT, NHA, or AMT
• Valid driver’s license and safe driving record for courier duties
• Proficient computer and typing skills
• Ability to perform waived testing and operate laboratory equipment
