- ⢠This RN Nurse Advice Line - Nights Local Remote role is a critical component of Denver Healthâs mission to provide accessible, high-quality triage and health guidance to the community, especially during overnight hours when access to care may be limited. As a Registered Nurse working remotely within one hour of Denver, you will serve as a trusted first point of contact for patients and callers seeking medical advice, using clinical judgment and established protocols to assess symptoms, provide appropriate dispositions, and ensure timely access to careâdirectly supporting Denver Healthâs vision of âHumanity in action, Triumph in hardship, Transformation in health.â
- ⢠Day to day, you will perform telephone triage for a diverse patient population ranging from neonates to geriatric adults, including obstetric and workerâs compensation cases, collecting health data, reviewing medications and allergies, assessing symptoms, and determining appropriate dispositions based on clinical guidelines. You will document all interactions clearly and concisely, exercise independent nursing judgment to override dispositions when clinically indicated, identify signs of abuse or neglect, provide patient education, and act as a resource for fellow staff by monitoring call queue safety, providing feedback, and participating in quality improvement initiatives such as QI audits and process improvement efforts.
- ⢠You will be part of the Nurse Line team within Denver Health, an integrated academic health care system recognized nationally as a model for safety-net care, operating a Level I Trauma Center, 555-bed acute care hospital, 911 EMS system, numerous community health centers, and public health initiatives. The organization serves over 185,000 individuals and 67,000 children annually, prioritizing local hiring and community investment as an Anchor Institution in Denver.
- ⢠In this role, you will deepen your expertise in telephone triage, clinical decision-making, and patient communication across the lifespan, while developing leadership and quality improvement skills through audit participation, peer mentoring, and involvement in shared governance and clinical advancement programs. You will also gain experience using clinical software systems and contribute to operational improvements that enhance patient access and care outcomes.
đŻ Requirements
- ⢠Active RN license issued by the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA)
- ⢠Current BLS certification from either the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- ⢠Associateâs Degree in Nursing (ADN) or higher
- ⢠Minimum of two years of recent nursing experience
- ⢠Proficiency in using computer systems and software for triage, documentation, and reporting
- ⢠Ability to apply nursing principles, exercise independent judgment, and respond appropriately to emergency situations
- ⢠Willingness to work three 12-hour night shifts (Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, 2000â0830) with flexibility for shift changes
